CAPS LOCK

CAPS LOCK

CAPSSS.JPG

Bit like an appendix and horribly annoying when pressed by accident and either results in messed up password or writing a whole sentence in CAPS because you didn’t look.

CAPS in internet etiquette (netiquette) means screamingn so DON’T do it.

Rather use italics or bold in rich text or in plain text use  s p a c e s  or put *stars* around it to stress you word.

So first thing I do when I set up a computer is to disable the CAPS LOCK:

MacOsX (10.6)

Go to System preferences -> Keyboard preference pane -> keyboard and click on

Modifier keys

Make sure you disable on all keyboards

Ubuntu (10.06)

System -> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Layouts tab

Windows (7)

Awful – you have to modify Windows Registry or download KillCapsLock.reg file that does it for you – and then of course – reboot/re-logon to have it working :-(

Did anyone say Windows is user-friendly?

Be nice to each other and stop SCREAMING, you know who you are =:0
